Why i resist
The day after the 2016 election, I soothed my shell-shocked, liberally-minded colleagues the best way I knew how: with butter and sugar. I turned to baking for my own personal comfort. It’s an old habit. Soon after, I started selling bourbon chocolate pecan pies off the side of my desk and donating the proceeds to organizations that fight for causes threatened by today’s political environment. For that reason (and because it brings me joy!) my baking became prolific. And as an added benefit it seems to make people happy when I show up places with pie in hand.
I bake because it makes me happy to do something with my hands. I bake because I like bringing good (and delicious) things into the world. Most importantly though, I bake because I resist.
How i resist
Every pie has a message of resistance baked in. Stamped in a subtle, flakey way, my crust lets you share the resistance with those who support these beliefs (and subversively feed it to those who don’t). Each pie I sell supports an organization that’s fighting for good in the world. These include:
NRDC
Trevor Project
Human Rights Campaign
Planned Parenthood
